Your context is yours,
not the model's.
Agents already remember things. What none of them does is decide what each AI should know about this project, right now, and why. That is what we are building.
What esfis is today
A macOS app for working on your projects with the AI agents you already use, with a single context for all of them.

The problem
Every agent carries its own notebook: CLAUDE.md, AGENTS.md, automatic memories, rules. None of them is yours, none of them talks to the others, and all of them fill up with things that stopped being true a while ago.
You are the one who pays for it. You explain the project again every time you change tool, and you never really know what any of them knows.
What we are building
One place to work with every agent, and a layer of context that lives on your computer. Of every item it stores, esfis knows three things:
Where it came from
The source, the date, and whether it was stated or inferred. An inference never passes for a fact.
When it changed
A new decision supersedes the old one, which becomes history instead of sitting alongside it.
Who can see it
Every project and every client has its own space. What belongs to one never reaches another.
With that, one agent picks up where another left off, and you can check what each one received. We go into it properly in Context, not memory, and how it works is in the documentation.
How we work
- Local first
- If a feature needs our servers, we ask ourselves whether it should exist.
- Say what is measured and what is not
- We have not benchmarked esfis against anything yet, which is why there is not a single number on this site.
- Small on purpose
- One product, done properly. We would rather say no than spread ourselves thin.
- Write it down
- Decisions live in the changelog and on the blog. If it was not written down, it did not happen.
What we will not do
- Watch everything, just in case
- We will not record your screen or read your mail. The minimum useful context is the opposite of all observable activity.
- Read what you store
- Your context does not reach us. When sync arrives, it will be end-to-end encrypted.
- Make you change tools
- The folders, the agents and the instruction files stay yours.
Who is behind it
esfis is built in Barcelona and is a project by f.cat.
The name comes from a dry stem that sat on the desk where the first prototype was written: two small seed pods on a single stalk, still holding on well after the season had passed.
Write to us at esfis@f.cat. A person reads the mail.
